FreeDome is a hand-made, purpose-built space, which, through its design and inherent atmosphere is conducive to both the creation and enjoyment of original, spontaneous and totally unbound music. Those that enter will find themselves completely immersed in a unique and friendly environment; whether you're a guitarist, closet poet, deejay or simply a lover of people, music, sound and communication, Freedome can provide both sanctuary and inspiration. Apart from the beauty of its surroundings, ethereal decor, the arsenal of instruments and the often welcome comfort of Freedome, by far the most important ingredient is the sheer diversity of people that you'll meet inside.
If we can help people find themselves by getting lost in creativity, we've done our job.
Freedome is essentially a small group of pro-active artists, musicians and friends who, over the years, as a result of similar creative interests and ideals, have come together to create this unique environment.
The Freedome attracts people who enjoy observing and relaxing in a comfortable space or participating with others making music or playing percussion instruments.
The Freedome works for all levels of musical talent; children also are welcome to bang a drum or shake a tambourine. It is also a useful networking centre for people wishing to connect with other musicians.
We believe that the main reason for the success of the Freedome so far is that fact there are NO standards to achieve, NO criteria to fulfil and certainly NO talent required – truly accessible art and music for all.
As creative practitioners, our skill is in gauging the needs of those in a less happy space than ourselves and leveraging the power of music and art to promote a constructive and restorative approach to their personal development and well-being.
Through informal, unpressured drop-in sessions, we offer music, singing and creative arts workshops focusing on getting what's inside, out. We try to cultivate a spontaneous, non-judgemental atmosphere where individuals might just feel comfortable enough to try something new, or indeed, reignite a previous creative interest.
Over the years, we've noticed that individuals taking part in our jamming, singing and songwriting sessions often use the opportunity to expose and confront real emotions behind the playful and unthreatening façade of performance.
Our creative practitioners are drawn from all walks of life, with most of us working on a part-time, freelance basis. Some of us are working musicians and artists, but all of our members have long track records working with disadvantaged youth, persons affected by substance misuse and alcoholism and those living with physical or mental impairment.
The activities that take place inside the Freedome are many and varied – from frenzied drumming sessions that heighten our awareness of the rhythms both inside and outside of ourselves to the demure and often entrancing storytellers that grip, move and amuse adults and children alike. By far the most common activity within the Freedome is good old-fashion jamming – the essence of spontaneity, the odd flash of genius and the unassuming, smiling faces of fellow musicians and humble newcomers simply enjoying themselves and each other.
We like to think of the methods operating within Freedome as the creative equivalent of so-called 'talking therapies' - a flexible, unassuming and intuitive approach that's defined by the individual's specific needs and circumstances. When participating in creative activities, the subtle call-and-response between an individual and the outside world is given a voice. We aim to foster and elevate this voice.
From simple ad-hoc jam sessions for complete beginners through to recording, producing and mastering tracks, our team has the necessary skills to take you on a magical musical mystery tour that'll have your feet tapping and head nodding in no time!

In mindfulness, the practitioner's work is to pay attention to what is happening. This can include internally (such as one's breathing or thoughts) or externally (such as the surrounding sounds or smells).
The act of finding a balanced and meaningful state of mind is a lifelong journey in itself; a tumbled and overgrown path that very few of us ever take the time to explore, let alone attempt to untangle and understand.
Our professional, experienced practitioners can help participants unwind and tap into a deeper state of self-awareness, hopefully allowing the fog to clear and the weight to be lifted long enough for them to find a positive way forward.
We've long known that simply writing about past traumatic events can greatly improve the healing process, both physically and mentally. From simple blogging and keeping a journal or dream diary to self-publishing poetry, stories and articles, we can help you put pen to paper and get those wonderful imaginative juices flowing!
Writing activities include:
Restorative justice brings together the victims of crime or conflict and those responsible for the harm, enabling those affected to participate in healing the damage and finding a positive way forward.
Restorative practice can be used in most situations to bring about accord, build stronger relationships and repair harm by enabling the involved parties to communicate effectively and positively. The restorative approach is increasingly being adopted for use in schools, children's services, workplaces, hospitals, communities and the criminal justice system.
Mediation is a way of resolving disputes between two or more parties. A third party, the mediator, assists the parties to negotiate their own settlement or resolution. Mediators are impartial and use various techniques to open or improve dialogue between parties, aiming to help them reach an agreement on the matter in question.
